NCP youth wing’s city chief ends life becoz of Domestic Problems.
PUNE: Vitthal Hanamghar Patil (31), city president of the Nationalist Congress Party’s youth wing, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of a hotel at Shirwal in Satara district, around 60 km from here, on Wednesday.
The incident came to light around 7 pm when Hanamghar’s friend went to his room to meet him in Vegas Inn hotel at Shindewadi in Shirwal.
Assistant inspector Chandrakant Mhaske of theShirwal police station told TOI, “Hanamghar’s friend knocked at the door of his room. Since there was no response from inside, he tried his cell phone. But, it was just ringing. The friend then informed the hotel staff and got the duplicate keys to the room. When he opened the door, he found Hanamghar hanging from the ceiling fan of the room. We were informed about the incident around 7.30 pm. We are yet to send the body for post mortem.”
Mhaske added that according to Hanamghar’s friend, he was frustrated because of some domestic problems. An official from the hotel told TOI that Hanamghar had checked in the hotel on Monday around 4 pm. He was alone. “Since Wednesday afternoon, Hanamghar was inside the room,” he said.
Hanamghar was appointed city president of NCP’s youth wing around nine months ago. He had also contested the Pune Municipal Corporation election in 2007 and lost by 56 votes. He is survived by wife, son, parents and two brothers. NCP spokes person Ankush Kakade said, “It was a shock for me and also for the party.”
