Wife, sons beat man to death- Deccan Chronicle
Unable to bear the violent nature of a man in inebriated condition, his wife and two sons tied him to a pillar in the house and beat him to death in Maduranthagam in Kancheepuram near here on Tuesday. Ezhumalai, 55, an agricultural worker of Silavattam, was in the habit of abusing and assaulting his family members and neighbours in an inebriated state. Unable to take the violence any more, his wife Lakshmi, 50, sons Vasudevan, 25, and Srinivasan, 22, on Tuesday decided to put end to their woes. “They actually wanted to burn him alive. By the time they had poured kerosene on him, neighbours intervened. The neighbours took Ezhumalai to hospital where he died,” the police said.
Police said the three had overpowered Ezhumalai around noon and initially tied his hand and legs. They later tied him to a pillar in the verandah of the house and started beating him up. Soon, neighbours rushed to the house on hearing Ezhumalai’s cries. The neighbours tried to stop the woman and her sons from lynching Ezhumalai but the sons threatened the neighbours with dire consequences when they tried to intervene. However, when the three poured kerosene over Ezhumalai, the onlookers stepped in and stopped the family members from setting the man on fire. They rushed him to hospital but could not save him. The Maduranthagam police have arrested Lakshmi and her sons on the charge of murdering Ezhumalai.
